Beste mensen van Radio Patapoe,

Namens de Vereniging Vrije Radio Nederland (VVRN) zenden wij jullie de onlangs door een ruime kamermeerderheid aangenomen motie m.b.t. vrije radio. De strekking van de motie is om vrije radio binnen niet al te lange termijn te legaliseren. De motie is tot stand gekomen na een langdurige campagne van vrije radiostations met als doel erkenning van vrije radio en het stopzetten van het repressieve overheidsbeleid m.b.t. vrije radio. Dit doel lijkt te zijn bereikt. De meeste kamerfracties hebben het culturele belang van vrije radio met deze motie willen benadrukken en wensen dat vrije radio niet alleen fysiek maar ook juridisch wordt gefaciliteerd binnen het huidige etherbestel. Dat een op vrije radio toegespitste wettelijke regeling nog even op zich zal laten wachten is evident.

Voor stations als Radio Patapoe is het echter van groot belang om aan de vooravond van legalisering operationeel te blijven. Wij kennen Radio Patapoe als een unieke zender en als een van de boegbeelden van vrije radio in de wereld vanwege de grensverleggende en unieke programma's, waarbij radiomaken tot kunst is verheven. Zeker ook gezien de al 17-jarige geschiedenis van het station en de grote populariteit lijkt het uit de lucht halen van het station geen enkel redelijk doel te dienen.

Wij doen een klemmend beroep op de verantwoordelijke autoriteiten om Radio Patapoe te laten uitzenden.

Aan ieder die de verantwoordelijkheid draagt,

Als voorzitter van Stichting Studio 301, de stichting die alle sociale en culturele publieke functies verzorgt in de voormalige filmacademie, deel ik u mede dat het erg belangrijk is om de radio zender Patapoe niet zomaar af te danken en te verbieden op grond van een vercommercialisering en verrechtsing van de Nederlandse staat.

Het is erg gezond juist om dit soort activiteiten op cultureel gebied die op vrijwillige basis ontstaan zijn en al geruime tijd opereren, de mogelijkheid te geven te blijven bestaan. Het is een belangrijke schakel voor de kleinschalige kunstvormen tussen publiek en createurs, alswel programmeurs. Commercie maakt veel kapot, zeker als er geen ruimte voor alternatieven is.

Logischerwijze dient het niet zo te zijn dat een alternatief conflikteert met de omgeving of anderen, zoals in dit geval legitieme radiozenders. Maar de zender in dit geval is kleinschalig en zorgt tot op heden niet voor problemen in de omgeving , dan wel in de ether. Daarom steunt Stichting Studio 301 de radiozender in zijn activiteiten op haar huidige lokatie. Patapoe is nodig hier, voor een volledig pakket van de te leveren culturelen diensten.

Patapoe kan een voorbeeld zijn in de discussie omtrent de handhaving en ontwikkeling van het ether beleid. Niemand in Nederland kan willen dat we hier , in een uiterst geval, een situatie zoals in Italie krijgen. Dat zou ten koste gaan aan de democratie, en de vrijheid van meningsuiting. Laat ons niet alle tollerantie het raam uit gooien, maar laat ons datr laatste kleine beetje wat we nog hebben koesteren. We stonden er tientallen jaren wereldwijd bekend om, maar het lijkt er op dat we dat volledig verliezen.

To understand the epidemic of losing the communications spectrum around the globe to market-driven interests one might imagine something of a Corporate Spongiform Encephalopathy [CSE - acquired from unnatural and grotesque cannibalistic feeding frenzies], a chronic degenerative disorder which is an invariably fatal brain disease with unusually long incubation periods measured in years, and are caused by an unconventional transmissible agent. In this case that agent is primarily a mixture of greed and indifference to sustainable livelihoods.

This hardly hypothetical disease leads to a wasting syndrome of all social bodies and even the cognitive abilities of entire nations and it has been long-known to the pioneers of research in free speech communcations , social justice and community development that corporate media is unfit for human consumption.

We , the journalists of the Global Indymedia Network, who live in the United States are particularly disconcerted to see this epidemic reach the Netherlands, which has quite a defined reputation for maintaining the best of a healthy multi-cultural environment and a general social well-being, and not colluding with bovine, racist, and/or fascist behaviours.

Please note the urgency in our analogy, the pathos in our humor , for we in the U.S. have watched ever-so-closely the ill-effects of mass media conglomerations on our own civilization to the point of having our country hijacked by a few dim-witted monkeys who seem to have little-to-no difficulty in manouvering the public with lice-picking and thumb-sucking displays redecorated as tawdry commercials for imperial chest-beating tantrums.

To stand by and allow Radio Patapoe, an inspiring model of creative international community and an invaluable public resource, to be removed from the airwaves will ultimately be to leave your society vulnerable to a similarly harrowing decline... and deprive all of us around the globe this life raft of creativity and intelligence in a sea of bovine media dementia which is wreaking destruction on an incomparable scale.

Hierbij willen wij jullie mededelen dat wij volkomen achter jullie strijd staan. Radio Patapoe moet blijven, dat moet toch voor een ieder duidelijk zijn. Want dat er in Nederland [en in Amsterdam in het bijzonder] veel meer bestaat dan de elitaire spruitjeslucht van de commerciele kultuurprut, daar zijn we, samen met jullie al heel veel jaren niet zonder reden trots op. Uiteraard verbaast het ons dat een stad als Amsterdam, die zich altijd zo graag op de borst klopt over haar vooruitstrevende cultuurbeleid, volkomen onwetend en vol onbegrip schijnt te willen blijven omtrent de rijke tegencultuur die deze stad rijk is. De kwaliteit en diversiteit van muziek op de lokale radio van een stad wordt niet alleen bepaald door de laffe, poengerichte programmering van al die commerciële klotezenders die deze arme stad rijk is. Muziek heeft ook kleinschalige kweekvijvers nodig, zinderende zenders zonder poeha, radio's dus a la Patapoe.

Met name eigen-zinnige en eigen-wijze tegengeluiden brengen een cultuur verder vooruit. Niet die laffe ja-en-amen cultuur van het geldwolven-in-makkeschaapskleren virus. Ook Van Gogh schilderde niet zonder reden juist geen huilende zigeunerinnetjes. En terecht. [Het zette voor hem destijds weinig zoden aan de dijk, maar het was wel mooi! Vindt achteraf dus de hele wereld!]

En als Amsterdam werkelijk iets geeft om haar veelbesproken broedplaatsenbeleid... als er een initiatief in feite al een fantastische broedplaats avant-la-lettre is dan is dat wel Radio Patapoe.

Daarom: als een stad zo graag groot wil zijn, dan moet ze niet kleinzielig doen. Zo'n schitterend initiatief als dat van jullie verdient alle steun. En het is dus te hopen dat Amsterdam dat nu eindelijk ook eens zelf eens gaat inzien. En wel zo snel mogelijk.

This letter comes from Montreal, Canada. As someone who has long been involved with Campus and Community radio in Canada, and as a member, during my involvement, with the National Campus and Community Radio Association (NCRA) of Canada, I wish to say that I give my whole-hearted support to independent, free radio in Amsterdam, such as Radio Patapoe.

As an academic who writes on issues of free speech and technology, and as an artist involved in free radio and the public access to technology, the continued existence of such endeavours are necessary in the face of unparalleled difficulties in free access to the technologies which should be open to all.

Amsterdam has always had the reputation as an open and tolerant city. Yet, many advances made in the '80s have recently been under fire. This has not gone unnoticed internationally. Where will the rest of us be when Amsterdam is no longer our beacon of hope? Thus, I call on everyone involved to consider the exceptional case that Radio Patapoe provides to not only Amsterdam, but the world. Open, free, non-corporate radio is integral to the very core of what we understand as a free, democratic society which is implicated within technology held by private interests.

As well as a Canadian citizen, I am also a Dutch citizen. Soon, I hope to make Amsterdam my home at the University of Amsterdam. It is such initiatives such as free radio that keeps the beauty of the Low Country alive, and which draws me to the city. Were I in Amsterdam, I would be lending my full support in whatever ways possible in keeping Radio Patapoe on the air. As I am in Montreal, I can only write this letter and encourage the authorities involved to permit Radio Patapoe to continue its operations. Mijn naam is Marko Ciciliani, ik ben componist, musicus en co-programmeur van de muziekserie "Kraakgeluiden" te Amsterdam en daardoor bekend en geintegreerd met de Nederlandse muziekscene. Hierbij wil ik tot uitdrukking brengen, dat Radio Patapoe een onmisbaar deel uitmaakt van de Nederlandse culturele landschap die niet door commerciële interessen is gedreven.

In de westerse samenleving werd altijd de ontwikkeling in de muziek en de kunsten door mensen bepaald die uit idealisme hun ideeën zijn gevolgd. Deze resultaten zijn meestal niet begeleidt door commercieel succes. Tegenwoordig wordt aan zelfstandig werkende musici en kunstenaars steeds vaker verweten dat hun publiek te klein en gemarginaliseerd is. Dat is een misgeleide manier van denken die de diversiteit van het culturele leven bedreigt. De waarde van kunst is niet aan het geld af te lezen dat het oplevert.

Radio Patapoe is een van de laatste radiozenders die uitsluitend door vrijwilligers wordt geleidt en die veel belangrijke muziek presenteert die anders nauwelijks een kans heeft om gehoord te worden. Laat alstublieft deze belangrijke stem in het ether verder bestaan.

I have long admired the Netherlands and its people for its belief in a participatory and permissive society. Many great progressive ideas have come from you. The fact that you are facing such repression - and that your officials will not recognize the service you have provided for so long and make room for you (and stations like you) to continue is appalling. I'm extremely disappointed with the actions of the last year especially.

I cannot do anything from afar except express solidarity for what you are doing; it almost seems too late to stop the stupidity that is Zerobase but I couldn't stand by and just watch. Kudos for the struggle and here's to a brighter, more sane future.

As a professional journalist who has written about arts and culture in Amsterdam for the past 11 years for a number of publications including the International Herald Tribune's supplement Het Financieele Dagblad (English Edition), Time Out and Virgin travel guides plus magazines and publications, I have always appreciated the diverse and thriving cultural scene in the city. Especially the underground scene which contributes largely to making Amsterdam such a unique destination to visitors from all over the world. I have often written about the station for various travel guides.

I find Radio Patapoe a refreshing change to the usual commercial, advert-laden radio stations churning out endless chart hits and I'm appalled by the repressive and draconian measures being employed to take Patapoe off the air. (Same goes for the demise of Radio 100.)

At the end of the day, you must ask yourself:
Does Radio Patapoe enhance those living and visiting Amsterdam? (YES).
Is it really harming anyone by them broadcasting? (NO).
Is this just an authoritarian, bureaucratic action? (YES).

Whatever happened to tolerance and more importantly, democracy?

Hello.

I'm Andrew, and I'm a volunteer at a community radio station in Tasmania, Australia(EDGE Radio). I know from personal experience that community-based radio stations give voices to many who would not have them otherwise - it is a great tool for encouraging and celebrating diversity.

In my experience, community access radio gives youth a voice, encourages a rich music scene that reflects a community(as opposed to reflecting the trends of the market), and best of all makes people realise that technology is, and should be accesible and usable for all.

Community radio is rich and strongly supported in Australia. To hear that it's not so in Europe astonishes me - and this specific situation is a disgrace. It's a form of censorship, in my opinion, and an ugly one.

The best of luck in keeping your station running. It's very important in so many ways.

Pleiten voor vrije radio...Hoe is het toch mogelijk dat dit mailtje nodig is? Ik denk dat een aap nog begrijpt dat het zeer ongezond is wanneer alles geregeld wordt door geld, instanties en overheid. De commercialisering van televisie [en radio] heeft al bewezen wat dat voort brengt: Ordinaire programma's voor de doorsnee burger die op geen enkele manier bijdragen aan geestelijke en creatieve ontwikkeling. Het "dom houden" via de media, dat is een belangrijke reden van het verlies van gevoel van waarden en normen van velen.

De mensen die zich nog intellectueel en emotioneel ontwikkelen in nederland, dat zijn de mensen die deze vorm van media ontlopen en continue op zoek zijn naar nieuwe inspiratiebronnen en andere invalshoeken qua literatuur, kunst, muziek en discussies. Voor deze mensen, die een cruciale rol spelen in onze samenleving, is vrije radio en televisie een onmisbare bron van informatie. Bovendien: Ik heb twee kleine kinderen en ik hoop dat zij niet hoeven op te groeien in een wereld waarin subculturen geboycot worden. Denk daar maar eens over na! Maar vooral: u bent verantwoordelijk.

Vrije radio is de enige vorm van radio waar radiomaken nog in pure vorm te vinden is en is een wereldwijd fenomeen met een belangrijke rol voor vrije muziek en vrijheid van meningsuiting, op lokaal en internationaal nivo. Radio Patapoe is een wereldwijd bekende vrije zender waar we trots en zuinig op moeten zijn.

We zouden ook moeten proberen op de landeleke radio een discussie/debat/forum/actie moeten krijgen over vrije radio. Het is godgeklaagd dat er niemand van al die zogenaamde lui met liefde voor het radiomaken is die zich uitspreekt voor behoud van vrije radio en zo Radio 100 al heeft laten verrekken en nu straqx ook patapoe zonder steunbetuiging de klere laat krijgen, daar waar het echte radiomaken nog zijn pure vorm heeft! ik denk aan de concertzender en radio vier, vpro radio. Het voorstel zou kunnen luiden om een zendtijdblokje te krijgen hiervoor.

To whom it may concern,

I recently visited Amsterdam for an international media conference. I was thoroughly impressed with the city and its people. It is distressing to learn that the Dutch government is taking such drastic action against an independent, alternative source of news and information.

As you may know, current licensing regimes are based on technological assumptions about the "carrying capacity" radio spectrum that in many cases date back 50 or 75 years. Modern radio technology can be modified to carry -- without interference -- many more signals than are currently "authorized" by government licensing agencies.

This is the path that Amsterdam authorities should be traveling, not shutting down alternative media voices. Amsterdam is known around the world for the freedom of its people and the diversity of its culture. In today's global climate that powerful differentiator should not be given up lightly. Let the airwaves of Amsterdam ring with many voices!

Do not fail to see the benefit of community radio!

Community radio is an endless benefit to the people of any given city or neighborhood. Having worked in community radio as a journalist and having served on the board of directors for a non-profit free community radio station I can assure the authorities in question that the benefits of community radio far outweigh the costs. I speek here both from my personal experience but also on account of the innumerable times that I have seen people's lives improved by listening to or helping to produce free community radio. I have also lived in Amsterdam, have friends there, and return to the city regularily, so I am not speaking about the benefit of radio patapoe to the civil society of Amsterdam in the abstract alone.

Volunteer involvement in community radio almost always represents a rewarding engagement in society which is sadly all too often missing in today's culture of consumerism. Within the medium of community radio different generations and standpoints come together, art and views that are worthwhile to the democratic robustness of civil society are expressed and debated, and the monopoly on culture exercised by big business is resisted.

Also, for many, community radio offers a chance to make a difference at the local, and thanks to information technology and the internet, global level. Putting this chance out of the reach of the people in your neighborhood is a grave mistake, and one that can only hinder the civic diversity in your city and nation. Ultimately, destroying these community based sources of political and cultural wealth can only have negative and sterilizing effects upon society and your role in the world.

Ralph Nader came to our radio station, CJSR 88.5 FM here in Edmonton Alberta, and he encouraged us to stay committed to community radio, as it is one of the last bastions of the freedoms which the democracies of the world pride themselves upon. What he said holds true. I would like to strongly express my support for radio patapoe, and assert that losing another community radio station in Amsterdam can only do the city and the community more harm than good.

At the moment when we try to build in Europa a space of free expression, where the politic get the chance to reconnect them self with they people, it seems to me, in a time where they are allready deconsiderate, a dangerous process to stop all possiblilties of dialogues.

Face to so powerfull commercial media, the politic shut be honored to let the voice of the population come to them, that they can be as what they shut be, representative of the population and not of bussiness interest.

Dit is chantage. Sinds wanneer is voor een gebruiksvergunning van een pand ook een zendvergunning vereist? Als dit door ambtenaren is gezegd kun je de gemeente voor de rechter slepen wegens machtsmisbruik. De gebruiksvergunning regelt vooral de brandveiligheid van een pand en heeft geen reet met een radiozender te maken. Tenzij de zender brandgevaarlijk is. Het doet me denken aan de Grote Keijser, dat gelegaliseerd zou worden op voorwaarde dat de radiozender uit het pand vertrok. (Wat ook gebeurd is dacht ik).

Een bizarre zaak. Het pand wordt verbouwd in het kader van het broedplaatsbeleid van de gemeente Amsterdam dacht ik. Gevolg: De laatste Amsterdamse broedplaats in de ether wordt de nek omgedraaid vanwege het broedplaatsbeleid.

Godverdomme zeg, zelfs al zou Patapoe een zendvergunning aanvragen, dan krijgen ze hem niet want de ether is volgens de wet volledig afgeschermd voor vrije radio. Alleen commerciele en publieke radio zijn welkom.

Als ik Patapoe was zou ik zeggen, okee overheid, kiezen of delen. Of je geeft ons een zendvergunning of je laat ons met rust.

Zijn ze nu helemaal belazerd!!

I write to express my support of the broadcasters of Radio Patapoe. I first became aware of this station in the early nineties whilst researching creative uses of radio across Europe. This station was one which had a significant reputation as an innovator in format and that drew a strong community and volunteer involvement simply on the basis of its deep and generous idiosyncracy.

In the mid-nineties I invited a representative of Patapoe to deliver a paper on the station at a conference at the Institute of Contemporary Art in London. We were proud to be able to introduce the work of this station to an English context and to allow the spread of information to radio innovators in the UK.

I have recently moved to the Netherlands in order to found a new postgraduate and research department for digital media and am glad to have the opportunity to listen to the station as a local. I must say that my admiration for the team of volunteers that puts the show together is undiminished. Stations such as Patapoe are integral to the creative spirit of cities such as Amsterdam. In London, the free radios have been essential in developing the various waves of underground and popular music which are core to the creative industries of that city. It is the same with Patapoe and others in Amsterdam. If you want to have a vibrant, inventive and daring cultural environment in this city, it is essential that initiatives such as these, founded out of the sheer love of being culturally active, are maintained and given the airspace they deserve.

I have been a resident of Amsterdam for five years and the only interesting radio stations I found were Radio100 and Radio Patapoe. The other stations mostly played the same hits as the ones in the United States or, if they kept local Dutch flavor, hadn't done anythng new in many years. Independent radio stations liek Patapoe are the only place I can hear new and different music and get independent news. By significantly enriching the cultural life of Amsterdam, Patapoe and stations like it have earned their right to stay on the air.

Als fan van de vrije radio en als oudgediende van radio 100, gaat het me aan het hart als jullie zouden moeten verdwijnen. Vrije radio is iets wat hier node gemist wordt, we kennen hier alleen community radio, maar dat is in de thaise context toch van een andere orde. (er is een universiteitszender die af en toe dissidente geluiden laat horen, maar meestal niet meer dan een half uur per week.)

Every commercial radio have to follow "market rules" to fill their frequencies' spectrum. I'm not talkin' about music, i'm talkin' about sound. It means that at 6:00 in the afternnon, a busy hour, the radio have to reach the people in their cars and beat the traffic sound. So all the radios gonna have compressed soundwaves: you can tune on many different music style, but you always gonna have a "stressing" sound, 'cause the Market says that at that hour people are busy. And if you stay at home lookin' for relax and some music with more dynamic range, it's better you switch off the radio and put some old Aretha Franklyn vinyl on. If you are still free to choose the music style (are you sure about it?), the Market gonna decide in which way the sound gonna reach you. Indipendent radios fuck this rule, all market rules. Just music by artists (...no market's puppets!)choosen mixed processed and trheated by other artists following rules coming out from their mind, not from any "market investigation".

DON'T FEAR THE MEDIA, B THE MEDIA.

It does not seem right that radio "Patapoe" should be taken off the air especially since they have existed for so long and obviously with so much enthusiam.

Here in the USA, we have suffered greatly since the great buy-out of our public air-waves (especially in radio). There is hardly anything unique on the air to find. Every station DJ sounds the same, plays the same music, and has the same format. The possible exceptions are college radio and "pirates" (low-power radio - which has now been somewhat accomodated by the Federal Communications Commission [FCC]).

I urge you in Holland not to become a similiar radio wasteland as the USA has become. All you have to do is look at the huge public outcry against the FCC in 2003 regarding further "media consolidation" attempts. People had already experienced the devastation done to radio here. Please do not follow this path! It is destructive of culture. You will regret your loss.

I myself am a radiomaker, I have a programme at radio100 which suffers from the same problems as all free stations like patapoe.I feel that without the possiblity to broadcast through the air, free radio as we know it will slowly die.Right now my programme is broadcasted via internet, and I noticed my public exists of a small group of listeners, usually inner crowd, friends and relatives and fellow radiomakers. This is a bad thing, free radio is for everyone, and broadcasting through the internet makes it even more difficult to reach people. The situation should be that for instance, on a nice sumemrday somebody lies down in the vondelpark, tunes into radio100 or patapoe and enjoys. Easy as that!Lots of programmes on free radio stations are of a high quality, interesting for a broad public. So free radio should not be ignored by politicians, it's initiatives should rather be encouraged!

Hij of zij zegt: 'nee, ik ken niemand bij Radio 4 of De Volkskrant'. Een recensie of concertaankondiging zit er dan vaak al niet meer in. Misschien is dat jammer. Schouders ophalen, en doorgaan met ademen. Maar dan gaat enthousiast de rechterhand omhoog, en komt de uitroep: 'maar ik speel wel een paar songs voor Free Radio Amsterdam!! You know, this ridiculous little studio. It's the best!!'

Mooi is dat. Echte underground is belangrijk voor de betrokkenen, en dat zijn er veel meer dan alleen een paar freaks met een zender. Ze bedienen niet zichzelf, maar een wereldwijd netwerk(je) van min of meer gelijkgestemden.

Helaas kan ik het station niet ontvangen, hier in Zwolle. Maar toch hoor je er af en toe over praten, in een kraakpand of jongerencentrum in de buurt.

Dat is toch uniek?

Omdat ik kan mijzelf niet zo goed uitdrukken in het Nederlands, ik wil graag nu in het engels schrijven; I would like to say that when I lived in England I listened to the radio frequently because there were quality radio stations in the UK, and a wide variety of them. As soon as I came to Holland to live, I checked out all the radio stations and am sorry to say that what I found appalled me. I was shocked at mediocity of what was being transmitted. I gave up and never listened to the radio again and carried my own music around with me. But then I discovered Radio Patapoe, finally an intelligent, creative, artistic broadcasting for intelligent, creative, artistic people. A commercial sender will never be able to provide the same kind of scheduling that Patapoe is able to offer us. We may not be the 'masses' but there's enough of us out here to make Patapoe a much needed part of and critically important contributer to the 'Dutch Media' and critical outlet for free speech. If Patapoe is taken off the air, it will signal yet another nail in the coffin of the decline in the Dutch society.

Als een van de weinige overgebleven radio-stations die niet afhankelijk zijn van de (commerciële) waan van de dag, is de zender een gezond en noodzakelijk alternatief en daardoor spreekbuis voor een belangrijk gedeelte van de (Amsterdamse) bevolking. Wij denken dat niemand er bij gebaat is als de vrijheid van meningsuiting en verstrekking van informatie zou moeten lijden onder misschien noodzakelijke praktische regulering. Vanwege het behoud van noodzakelijke diversiteit (zeker in een stad als Amsterdam) zouden wij aan alle betrokkenen willen vragen tot een voor iedereen acceptabele oplossing te komen en het verdwijnen van Radio Patapoe te vermijden.

We are fighting similar battles here in Budapest, Hungary. Radio TILOS (which means "Prohibited") was attempted to be shut down by way of a media scandal and street demonstrations (sic!) fuelled by nationalist right-wing parliamentary and non-parliamentary groups, as well as the Church.

Hype stressed the lame authorities so that their answer was ruthless and unexemplared when a host said "I'd terminate all Christians" on Christmas eve. All the hosts including the utterer withdrew the sa(i)d line, and the utterer left the radio station for ever, driven by his own conscience. However, this was not enough for the authorities, who take much worse things from the right-wing media, such as systematic calls for genocide. Now they take legal action against TILOS which functions as an NGO prenent time, based in an illegal past, broadcasting from vans on the move in 1989.

Radio Patapoe staat voor vrije uitzendingen, voor gekke geluide, leuke praatjes, spannende discussies (soms) muziek die ik niet wil horen of die ik juist nooit eerder heb gehoord - ik weet nooit wat ik weer te horen krijg als ik de radio aan doe. En dat is wat je, Radio Patapoe, voor mij vooral bent: vrije mening, vrije vorm, vrije inhoud zonder controle, zonder advertenties, zonder redactie. Een vrijruimte dus.. En wat heb je geks gedaan dat je nu weg zou moeten? Niets, niets behalve bestaan..

Dus beste mensen die deze radio spraakloos willen maken: wat is er fout aan een beetje vrijruimte op de ether? Daar is toch nog genoeg plek voor ons allemaal, en sinds Patapoe al 17 jaren in Nederlanden is kunnen jullie toch van harte een pardon geven?

Ik hoop dat er een solutie word gevonden - en anders.. anders dat patapoe weer 9miles high and deep underground gaat.

Het aanpakken van vrije radio's is onzinnig omdat zij de enige zijn die nog een tegenwicht tegen de commerciele shit bieden. Op de middengolf broeit iets en wat zal dat zijn..... Is het een jong zendertje of is het iets anders, laat die hoge heren maar raden.

RADIO PATAPOE MOET BLIJVEN!!!!

Als nederland een 'vrij' land is dan is radio ook vrij.

Als antennes storen zijn het vaak commerciële antennes deze storen zelfs je brein via TV en commerciele radio.(reclame rotzooi)

I'm writing in the name of a Croatian magazine zero-four "04". "04" is magazine dealing with human rights, alternative art, and free living. it covers major part of Croatia, and is distributed in clubs and social centers. when I received your newsletter from my friend in Amsterdam I thought it would be a great thing to write a story about radio patapoe. so if you are for it, we can make an email interview and pick it up from there.

1. can you explain us who or what is Agentschap Telecom (AT)?
2. what is their authority to induce stopping of an free radio patapoe?
3. what happened to radio 100, also a free radio in amsterdam?
4. what is AT actually stopping? what kind of programs are on free radios? (on radio 100 there is sounds of frogs and waterfalls mixed with real dreamlike background music to Brazilian to gypsy to noise to old punk music which is never to be heard on commercial radios. commercials free :))

I hereby state that I support radio Patapoe in this crisis, not only as the only artistic sonic oasis in the all too corporate air, but also as the last example of a very endangered sort: people who know what to do with their freedom.

If this radio should disappear from air, one has to conlude that we as a society work against democracy and basic human rights - while in fact such forms of art and activity should be assisted by cultural funds and those trying to damage democracy should be exposed and disabled in their efforts.

Het is volgens mij van zeer groot belang voor een stad als Amsterdam dat er - naast de gebruikelijke, reguliere, commercieele zenders - ook plek is voor een radiozender die afwijkende, experimentele muziek en informatie in de ether brengt; non-profit en dus niet bedoeld als reklamezuil..etc. Jammer dat Radio de vrije keyser en Radio 100 in de ether reeds het veld hebben moeten ruimen, hopelijk dat Patapoe met rust gelaten zal worden, of liever, een zendvergunning toegewezen krijgt.

Hallo, ik vernam dat jullie problemen hebben in jullie bestaan. Zoiets kan niet zijn !!! Patapoe geeft en gaf als niet-traditioneel kleinschalig podium met lage drempel ( o.a. aan mij en medemuzikanten/studenten) de noodzakelijke ruimte om muziek in de meest brede zin te ontwikkelen en uit te voeren. Patapoe heeft daarom een hefboomfunctie bij het aftasten, ontwikkelen en doorstarten van talenten. Ik mocht mijn talent o.a. ontwikkelen op het Koninklijk Conservatorium te Den Haag o.a. bij Louis Andriessen, Dick Raaymakers en last but not least bij John Cage. Toch was dat niet genoeg. Om talent sterk te maken EN te houden heeft men podia nodig, toetsing dus aan het publiek, keer op keer op keer. Lees de autobiografie b.v. van meesterviolist Yehudi Menuhin of Nigel Kennedy er maar eens op na.. Willem Breuker met zijn wereldberoemd Kollektief speelt elk jaar minstens 1 x in (het laatste) Provadja theater in Nederland n.l. in Alkmaar omdat hij daar ooit, toen niemand hem nog kende, mocht debuteren!!!

Het was ook radio Patapoe die mij ruimte gaf voor het uitvoeren van mijn "multimedia telefoon opera Rabbit Jenny" welke daarna o.a. een KPMG Mindshift en Popprijs (Stichting GRAP) nominatie ontving, Patapoe is een kostbare want zeldzame parel in de wereld van niet-traditionele kunsten. Ooit wilde men het Rietveld-Schroderhuis in Utrecht opdoeken.. thans staat het op de wereldmonumentenlijst! Ik wens radio Patapoe een lang en creatief leven toe!
